About Me

I am a Miami-based licensed psychologist with hopes to create safe, compassionate, and therapeutic environments for children and their families. I have provided bilingual (Spanish and English) counseling and evaluation services in community mental health, inpatient, private practice, primary care, outpatient, and exceptional education center settings. Overall, my interests include child and adolescent psychology, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), school-based mental health, disabilities, and the Latino/Hispanic population.

I started my work with children at the University of Miami, while obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree. My training in psychology began with a thorough understanding of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, understanding their core symptoms, and helping them enhance their skills in joint attention. My love of children was strengthened as I enhanced my clinical skills in assessment and intervention during my graduate training at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, in Tampa, Florida. I was provided the opportunity to work with children within Hillsborough County Public Schools as an IEP counselor for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children, which has very much helped me see the impact the school system has in children's functioning. I gained a plethora of knowledge in school-based interventions, behavioral modification, accommodations in the school system, and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) classifications needed for children in special education. My internship and post-doctoral residency were both completed in a community mental health center in Hialeah, Florida, where I was able to enhance my understanding of children through different therapeutic contexts, including outpatient services, primary care, and an inpatient crisis stabilization unit.

I have developed my skills, interests, and identity as a mental health professional through a variety of mentoring relationships and educational, research, teaching, and training experiences. I started my professional career working at a primary care site specializing in pediatrics and women's health issues. There, I was able to provide behavioral health consultation services within a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including medical doctors, nurses, and nutritionists to assist with patients' specific needs, be they related to behavioral health or behavioral medicine concerns. I was also a site supervisor for psychology interns and post-doctoral residents acquiring hours towards their doctorate degree at an APA-Approved internship site. I also gained experience as Clinical Supervisor of a Baker Act Receiving Facility treating children and adolescents in South Florida. There, I worked as a part of a multidisciplinary team towards treatment of severe psychopathology and crisis intervention for children and adolescents. Furthermore, I enjoy mentoring graduate students through their graduate careers and am an avid member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Latina/o Psychological Association (NLPA).  Most recently, I am a licensed psychologist at South Miami Psychology Group (SMPG) where I see children and adolescents, as well as their families.

This career has been a lifelong passion of mine. Being a source of support to others and helping them understand themselves in the process is an immense privilege. I hope to serve as a guide through your journey of self-discovery and healing. Contact me to see how I can be of support to you and your loved ones.
